Hello everyone and welcome to our October Newsletter!

I think summer is sadly over but not to worry -we have 3 weeks ahead of us before half term when we will be exploring the delights of Autumn with lots of lovely activities and experiences.

Half-term break.

As previously advised- we finish a day earlier than we originally thought, and this will be Thursday 23rd October.

Autumn Curriculum

There is lots of learning that can be gained through this lovely seasonal topic and we thought we would share some of this learning with you so that you can continue with this at home and hence we are working together to help your children to learn.
Please also find this autumn learning information for parents and carers attached!
It would also be great when you are out and about, if your child could find and collect some autumn leaves, conkers, acorns etc and bring some in and we will talk about their treasure.
Family photos
Last year we started a display board of family photos. If you would like to- we would welcome some more photos of you all- pets included! Children love to see their family photos displayed.

New Committee

At our AGM last week, we elected a committee for the forthcoming year!
Bethany Grange Chairperson
Milly Laycock Secretary
Sammy Hall Treasurer
Hayley Dunn General committee
Gina Garth General committee
Penny Etchells Staff Representative
Rosie Brightman Co-opted Member

Bank details

Some parents have been experiencing problems when setting up our bank details for direct payments. If you find that it’s saying details don’t match… try Addingham Pre School PG and not just Addingham Pre School.

Facebook

If you are a facebook user and haven’t already done so- it is really handy to join our private parents & carers group. Addingham Preschool parents & carers.
We use this for reminders, a quick message, information, updates and I upload photos and share with you each Friday evening snippets of what we have been doing that week. So please request to join!
We also have a public group Addingham Pre School which anyone can join- more of a publicity/awareness page.

Labelling

We would be really grateful if all lunch boxes and drinks containers are labelled to avoid confusion. If you can’t get labels to stick- maybe a black marker pen would work-many thanks.
Labels in outdoor clothing as well would be great too please.

Safer eating -lunch boxes

Just a reminder about cutting grapes in half lengthways and also any hot dog sausages cut into long strips as these are also on the ‘chocking risk’ list.

Jofli

Jofli is our Preschool Bear who lives here but loves to go home each weekend with a child and join in whatever they get up to with you!
Shopping, trip to see family, family outings, a play in the park, a walk- anything! He will just love his time with you! He comes with a back-pack containing a change of clothes, PJ’s, sleeping bag, hair brush and a diary in which we ask you to add a short write up as to what he has been doing whilst staying with you and we will share this with others. Maybe some pics if you are able.
Oh- he doesn’t like getting wet or sticky!
Each child from our older group (those going to school next year) will have a turn. We will shortly be introducing Jofli to the children- he is so excited! So… if your child comes home with Jofli- you know who he is!

Halloween Disco Friday 17th October 4.30-6pm at the cricket club

Our committee in the process of organising a Halloween event for our children and any other children who would be interested! Whilst it is aimed at children up to aged 7yrs-everyone is welcome- we don’t want to miss siblings/friends out if they would like to come along too! All children must be accompanied by an adult please.
Halloween outfits preferred but not essential, there will be pizza, hot dogs, cakes, biscuits and drinks to purchase for tea and for those adults who would like a drink- the bar will be open too! (it will be Friday night!).

Entrance is £3 per child- babies and adults free.

Tickets can be purchased in advance through the link below or alternatively you can pay on the door. Don’t worry if you notice the link is for’ Little Blossoms’ – this is correct as Hayley one of our committee members is allowing us to use her link temporarily for bookings and payments until we get our own.

Anyone who is able to kindly donate buns or biscuits for the bun stall- that would be great thanks! If it’s home baking please include a list of ingredients.
If shop bought- please bring in the original packaging.

Hope you can make it and please spread the word!

Halloween

As Halloween falls during the half term break- we will be having a Halloween themed day on Thursday 23rd October – so if the  Halloween outfits can come out again- that would be great!

Christmas cards!

Over these next couple of weeks, each child will be creating their own personalised Christmas card. These will be sent off to print and a sample card returned soon after half-term. These will then we available for you to order on- line if you so wish. There are other items in the same design also available to order. (We do get commission on orders.)
We have done these for a number of years and are always so lovely!

That’s it for now thank you!
